The building was reconstructed in 1868 by the Arequipa architect Lucas Poblete. It showcases a Neoclassical style, which is evident in its grand, symmetrical design. The entrances to the temple are uniquely situated along the side naves, creating an inviting atmosphere as one enters the space. This architectural approach emphasizes both beauty and function, characteristic of the Neoclassical movement.

The structure is divided into five rooms, each filled with a rich collection of Christian artifacts that reflect the religious and cultural history of the region. The first room is home to a significant number of religious objects from the colonial era, offering visitors a glimpse into the spiritual life of that time. In the second room, one can find a collection of photographs that feature past archbishops and important figures of the Catholic Church, preserving the legacy of religious leadership in the area. The third room holds several liturgical items, including a beautifully crafted silver tabernacle and various pieces of jewelry of considerable monetary and historical value, highlighting the importance of religious ceremonies.

The fourth room displays a range of Christian clothing, some of which were worn by local priests, providing insight into the ecclesiastical fashion and traditions of the period. Finally, the fifth room contains a collection of paintings, many of which date back to colonial times. These paintings offer a visual narrative of the religious and cultural themes that were prevalent during that era, further enriching the historical significance of the space.
