The Shanty Town Tour - Local Life Experience

Start your journey by taking a walk up the iconic yellow stairs, leading you to the hilltops where you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view of the city’s vast landscape. Lima’s sheer size and stunning vistas will surely  leave an impression on any visitor, offering a perspective of the city that few get to experience.
  
• But this tour is much more than just sightseeing. It’s an opportunity to truly connect with the local community, to meet the people who call Lima home and learn about their culture, traditions, beliefs, and personal stories. Expect to be greeted with warm hospitality and genuine smiles—the locals here love meeting visitors and sharing their way of life.

  

• As you walk through the neighborhoods, you’ll have the chance to meet smiling children, hardworking families, and individuals who are making their mark in the city. During the tour, we will also visit a local daycare center, where you’ll interact with the friendly families and learn about the important role these institutions play in the community.
• Our expert guide will provide in-depth knowledge about the community’s history, its ongoing urbanization projects, and the various social and political challenges it faces. You’ll gain a unique understanding of the area’s religious practices, its values, and how Haku Tours contributes to the region’s development and growth.

• If we can visit the Shanty town communities is because in advanced we ask permission to the local leaders (they are 18 leaders and 15 of them are women, our Shanty tows are run by women).
• During all the visit, a local leader representative of the community will be part of the group to make sure the good performance and happy experience in the community.

• We want to inform you that, on all public holidays in Peru, our prices will have a 50% increase.

• All of our prices include pick up and drop off to your hotel only when it is located in: Miraflores, San Isidro or Barranco. Outside of these areas, we ask that you pay a small fee for your pick up and drop off to your hotel place.
