Overview
La Victoria is one of the most popular districts in Lima for locals, characterized for its street vendors, street food and the huge clothing industry, but what is a highlight in this place is the witches market, a market full of mysteries. This makes Gamarra a very bizarre and unique place.

Information
1. Gamarra
- We will take you around the commercial city of Gamarra which is located very close to the first “Pueblos Jóvenes” (Shanty Towns). There we’ll go to the highest building of the place to have a panoramic view of all Lima city and the vast territory that Gamarra occupies, which is going to be great to get an introduction of the history of Lima and the shopping Center
- In addition, we will be able to take a look at the hills where the “shanty towns” are located, communities created in the 70’s and 80’s due to the massive immigration of people from the Andes and Amazon of Peru.
- After that, we’ll take you through a walking around the streets of Gamarra and you will have the opportunity to try some local snacks and typical street food (Locals Love it) and then we go towards the witches market.
2. The Witches Market
- Snakes, lizards and other dissected animals are used as alternative medicine. This became part of the popular culture of locals since Andean people arrived.
- On the other hand, we have a variety of aromatic herbs which are used by shamans to make ancestral rituals that invoke good luck and call upon money, wealth, and love.
- The black Magic is also part of the performed rituals by Shamans in Gamarra, even though we are not participants of this, we consider it is important to take you and take a look at it!
- At the end, if possible, you can be part of a unique experience, visiting the wise old woman from the Andes who have the ability to read your future through the coca leafs.
- By the end of your tour and to finish with a true local experience, we will take the linea 1 public train on the way back to your accomodation.
- This tour is unique, super interesting and a sight to see if you enjoy lots of action and vibrant streets filled with activity.
- We guarantee a day you will never forget. Dare to explore the bizarre Lima in a different way!

Our tour was on Saturday afternoon and were blown away by all the street performers. The squares, cathedral & catacombs were brilliant. So glad we did this tour. Hotel pickup & dropoff icing on the cake! Thank you :)Verified
R V2024-07-12We visited two public squares and saw several historic buildings. Natalya was friendly, knowledgeable and more importantly, very enthusiastic. The tour was very good. We were picked up on time. We traveled by van before the walking tour.Verified
Regina B2024-07-12Varied and entertaining Nataly was a great tourist guide! She knows a lot about the city, is cheerful and very entertaining. We had a great time with her! The catacombs are a bit dark, but very exciting to see. And the Peruvian churros were super fine. On the way to the old town and back you will experience the traffic of Lima, but this is also part of the Lima experience.Verified

Paula Santibanez2024-07-07Lima for everyone We got the privilege to be introduced to the beautiful Lima by two guides, Junior and Sandy. Both of them very knowledgeable, kind and patient, showed us the city in an amicable way, making sure everyone had an entertaining experience. Definitely worth the price.Verified
Rudine E2024-07-04Great tour through Miraflores and Barranco I really enjoyed the tour. It was a good way to get a first impression of miraflores and barranco. I recommend this tour to everyone who is interested in getting a good first impression of what these districts have to offer. John, the tour guide, was very knowledgeable and friendly and could also provide some helpful recommendation for good and drinks. I felt safe throughout the whole tour, as we rode along the bike paths.Verified
Kunal S2024-07-03Lima tour A great experience to get some of the background, history and culture of Lima. They picked us up from our Airbnb which was amazing bonus. Saul was fantasticVerified
Steve Guttman2024-07-02Catacombs, churros and more Like many tourists to Lima, we booked a hotel in Miraflores because of the location and the convenience of great restaurants. But, we very much wanted to see the historical areas of Lima as well. This tour (which was quite reasonably priced) did a great job of giving us a good intro to the important landmarks of the Centro Historico. (Better call) Saul was an articulate and entertaining tour guide. He gave us some interesting insights into some of the monuments and buildings (like when the fountain in the main square was filled with Pisco). We got to tour the Church of St Francis of Assisi and go into the catacombs below. And, to cap off the tour we had the opportunity to sample Lima's version of the humble churro. I highly recommend.
