Cusco’s first 5-star boutique hotel, Inkaterra La Casona is located in the traditional Plaza de las Nazarenas, surrounded by vibrant cobbled streets. This 16th century mansion lies on top of an academy for the training of a select army of the Inca empire, and had the Spanish conquistador Diego de Almagro and the liberator Simón Bolívar among its illustrious guests.
After being harmoniously restored by Inkaterra for five years to emphasize its original architecture, Inkaterra La Casona reflects the meeting of cultures and traditions through the centuries. Around the main patio, its 11 suites are equipped with fireplaces, heated floors and large bathtubs. Its halls are decorated with colonial furniture, pre-Columbian fabrics and original murals.
The Yacu therapy room offers a variety of treatments and, like the hotel’s restaurant, uses local products. Those who sleep within its stone walls, under the exposed beams, gain a deeper insight into the city’s cultural heritage.
